Consigning
gear at music stores usually doesn't work well because they typically
charge 20-40%. Either you get a lot less than your
gear is worth, or you jack up the price to cover it and then your gear
is priced way too high for the market and never sells.
At The
Good Stuff we charge a $25 consignment fee the first month for selling
your gear, if it fails to sell the second month is $20, third month $15,
etc. If six months were to pass you would owe nothing.
While most
people I have met thru Craigslist and Ebay are usually cool – there
are a fair number of flakes, low-ballers, tire-kickers, etc.
That sort of thing made selling and trading gear into a hassle.
I also really don’t like unknown people coming to where I live
and seeing everything else I own. For $25 bucks you
get to avoid all that. If you are not comfortable with this
concept we will still accept your consignment for a 20% fee.
We can
also help you sell your gear on eBay if your item is really specialized.
We will
buy used gear but you’ll definitely get a lot more money selling it
yourself on consignment.
Let us
know what you think of the idea. If you like it -
please spread the word and definitely drop by the shop to say hello
