Peter Sparacino is a
freelance saxophone and woodwind player in the Bay
Area.
He first took up the clarinet at the age 9 and studied intensely,
playing in many youth orchestras around the Bay
Area. However exposure to the saxophone and jazz during his
high school years led to a new focus and after high school, where he
played in many honor groups including the California
All-State Band.
He entered the prestigious Indiana
University Jacobs School of Music, graduating in 2002 with a
Bachelors in Music. In Indiana
he freelanced extensively with local and touring acts as well as playing
with salsa bands, brass bands, rock groups, chamber groups, jazz combos
and pit orchestras in the greater Midwest.
After college and a 6 month stint working as a musician for
Princess Cruises in the Caribbean, he has returned to the Bay
Area where he has begun to establish himself in the music
community.
In the Bay
Area, he has appeared at such venues as Pearl's Jazz Club,
Montero's, Cafe Cocomo, Club Deluxe among others with such groups as the
Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, The Fil Lorenz Collective West Jazz
Orchestra, Stymie and Black Sci-Fi, Cubanacan, Mazacote and his own combos
to name a few.
